Teaching Design Technology
We are looking for good, qualified, Design Technology teachers with experience working within the UK or similar education system.
Design Technology, or DT, is well established in the curriculum of every secondary school. This ever changing and developing subject is both exciting and rewarding to teach. To deliver a high quality design and technological education it is necessary for design technology teachers to work as part of a school-based technology team. You will be given the opportunity to teach using a broad range of materials and technologies.
Career prospects are very good as there is high demand for design and technology teachers. You will be expected to teach one or a combination of the following courses.
- product design (including textiles technology, resistant materials technology and graphic products) or manufacturing
- food technology or hospitality and catering/home economics
- systems and control, electronic products, electronics and communication technology, industrial technology or engineering.

- Your most recent Design Technology teaching experience should be at the top of your CV - if schools see you as inexperienced then they will not want to part with as much money for your services - so you get paid less!
- Your CV should be brief and to the point and designed to show your best points quickly. Two pages maximum please.
- For each job use bullet points to highlight at least 3 extra special aspects of your performance in the role e.g extra help you gave the Head of Department writing a scheme of work, or attending a course on 'improving performance in afro-caribbean boys'.
- Keep extra curricular activities to a minimum unless relevant to education or very, very impressive (Olympic swimming Bronze or above).
