Hounslow Manor School
Hounslow Manor School
Nearest underground station: Hounslow East
is a thriving 11-18 age community school of 950 pupils with over 100 students in the 6 th Form, over-subscribed in all year groups, with a reputation as being a small school with a strong vision and sense of purpose.
In May 2000 we had an outstanding Ofsted Inspection in which the extremely high quality of teaching and learning in the school was nationally recognized. In 2003 we had a short Ofsted visit which confirmed that the school is very effective and that pupils had very positive views of the school, abd our Ofsted of 2005 was also very positive.
Hounslow Manor is the most central of the Authority's secondary schools, occupying a large site just off the High Street. The school is also a Community Education Centre, with a flourishing adult education programme three evenings a week and at the weekends, extensive use of our superb Sports Hall seven days a week and strong links with the adjacent Youth Centre. There is a well-subscribed Community Language School which runs every Saturday morning.
Transport communications are excellent, with bus and underground stations within a few minutes walk, and British Rail a little further away. We are very proud of the care that we all take of our learning environment and have three years running been awarded a Gold Litter Free School Award.
In September 2001 we became involved in the government's “Excellence in Cities” project giving us additional resources for a range of services that support our pupils, ensuring success for all our pupils.
In July 2002 our work was nationally recognized and the school gained the following awards: Sports Mark, Arts Mark Gold, Healthy Schools and The Investors in People to the school. We are currently applying to become a Performing Arts Specialist College because we believe that the development of high level communication skills will support our young people in the world of work. Our Arts and Sports Awards were extended in May 2005, and our Investors in People award extended in February 2006.
We are a very positive school and eager to congratulate pupils for their personal effort and progress through Awards and Certificates. We believe that pupils thrive best in a well ordered, stimulating environment which encourages and celebrates success.
